Italeri 3 ton . Truck Coal Engine (#6457)
Towards the end of World War II the German armed forces were desperately short of fuel. To combat this shortage they converted many vehicles to run on wood and coal gas. By heating (not burning) these products to a high temperature is possible to obtain gas the can be collected and then burnt in an engine like normal gasoline or diesel.
I originally bought Italeri's 3 ton Coal Engine Truck to build in a steampunk style for my wonderful wife, Being alternative powered I though it would fit into the genre. I always knew I was going to enjoy this build. I only had to build it "clean". As long as I hit no major snags during construction everything would be fine as its a complete fantasy build. I didn't have to stick to any historical realism.
Italeri are known maybe not for being the best moulded or most accurate kits but as reliable manufactures. With this kit Italeri come through again. Their were no major construction problems with the only difficulty being aligning all the cabin parts so the doors will fit with no gaps. In all whether building as a fantasy build or as a historically accurate vehicle this kit would work well out of the box or if you wanted to get super accurate it would work fine as a base for that.
I'd suggest for beginners to advanced builders.
